HebCelt is organised by the Hebridean Celtic Festival Trust Ltd a voluntary board of trustees.

These trustees are a dedicated group of people, all of whom have been come through the ranks of the festival volunteer cohort and have been instrumental in the development of the festival over the years.

The board of trustees are all volunteers who each take ownership of specific areas when the festival is ‘live’.  The directors are supported by a number of key individuals who manage their own areas and share task making up the festival family.

More information on the board and key valued members of the wider festival team can be viewed on our team pages.

We are often asked why we think the festival has been so successful to date. And we never tire of answering that there are three main reasons:

The Setting

There is no doubt that the wider beauty of the Outer Hebrides, and the setting of our big blue marquee in the grounds of Lews Castle – overlooking Stornoway harbour – combine to play a big part in the festival success. Visitors from around the world love to visit for the wild scenery and to enjoy our way of life. The fact that they can do this and take in one of the best family-friendly festivals in the UK at the same time is often given as a reason for visiting.

The Music

We have consistently tried to bring a variety of music from around the world to our festival, attracting performers from a huge number of countries. We have also worked hard to ensure there are shows outside of Stornoway. We will always seek to bring fine quality live Celtic music to our festival. We're very pleased to report that the vast majority of our performers express great enjoyment at playing here, citing the wonderful reception they get from our volunteers and festival-goers.

The Community

Without the support of our unpaid volunteers, our sponsors and the community at large the festival would simply not exist. The hard work of all concerned really is something special. The festival thrives on a generous spirit of support and it is probably this of all things which makes the festival so special. Our thanks to everyone who backs the festival through their hard work, financial contribution or by attending and adding to what is always an excellent atmosphere.
