Getting there - Mar a Gheibh Sibh
Ferry Travel
Caledonian MacBrayne run a direct car and passenger ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway, a car/passenger ferry to/from Skye to Harris and also to Lochmaddy in North Uist. Inter-island services also operate between Ardmhor in Barra and Eriskay in South Uist and also from Berneray in North Uist to Leverburgh and Harris.
The introduction of cheaper ferry fares to Hebridean routes has dramatically reduced the cost of travel to the islands and vehicle pre-booking is advised.
There will be an additional sailing on Sunday the 17th July leaving Stornoway at 0700 and Ullapool at 10.25.
Telephone 0800 066 5000 or log on to their website www.calmac.co.uk.
Prices have been greatly reduced on ferry travel to and from the Isles. For more information see Visit Hebrides below...
Ferry Parking
To help with expected congestion in Ullapool due to the arrival of the Tall Ships, this year there will be a free park and ride system in place for all those parking up to catch the ferry to attend the festival. Please follow the HebCelt parking signage when entering Ullapool and allow additional time to your journey.
The park and ride system will be in place for the following hours to coincide with the ferries:
| Thursday 14th July | 8am until 5pm |
| Friday 15th July | 8am until 10pm |
| Saturday 16th July | 8am until 6pm |
| Sunday 17th July | Meeting the two returning ferries at 9.30am and 5.15pm |
Vehicles left are done so at the owners discretion. Please park responsibly as vehicles causing traffic problems will be removed and inevitably this will incur recovery costs.
